DECEMBER '10 ARCHIVES 12:24 AM 12/2/2010
did i ever mention how much i love flying coach, particularly on international flights? IT'S AWESOME. i am currently sitting in the very last row of the plane on my way back to LAX. i was supposed to leave last night but i missed my flight due to mechanical problems with my first flight in taipei. by the time i got into HK, it was after one in the morning. the airline put us up at a hotel, but thanks to the dumbass shuttle driver who drove all of us to the wrong hotel, i didn't get to sleep until after 4. i woke up before 9 to head back to the airport, where i had the privilege of going through security and immigration all over again. yeah. lame. i am not looking forward to my five hour flight back to DC this weekend. and then i have the trips to FL and TX in december. shoot me now.
anyways, enough whining. here are some of rosa's wedding pictures from this past weekend:

rosa and eric (or his back, anyways) coming down the aisle during the recessional.

me and one of the groomsmen dancing down the aisle. this was taken approximately ten seconds before i totally ate it in front of everybody (no joke).

my mom, in between nagging me about how low my dress was.

the entire wedding party.

may & i.

rosa and eric shaking it on the dancefloor.
the trip was a complete whirlwind. i arrived in HK at the butt crack of dawn friday morning (5:42 am, to be exact), shuttled it to four seasons, slept for half an hour, got up, went to the gym, got a manicure @ the spa, and then met up with rosa and the rest of the girls for the bachelorette party. rosa chartered a decent-sized boat to take us around the harbor and had food catered in. it was really nice until a couple of girls (including yours truly) started feeling a little queasy. FYI, heels + jet lag + rolling boat = no bueno. so we ended up cutting the cruise early and went back to rosa's suite. saturday was dim sum in the morning, then spa day, rehearsal and dinner at cipriani. i think i ate about three pounds of prosciutto. the wedding was sunday; started getting ready around 10 and pretty much went non-stop until around 1 in the morning. everything went smoothly - no panics, no bridezilla meltdowns, no eating it while walking down the aisle. ohhhhh wait. that last one DID happen. haha.
i left HK for taiwan on monday afternoon. spent the day with some of my relatives in taipei and hit up taipei 101 for about an hour. mon night i took the high speed rail down to chia-yi to see more family. tuesday morning was spent hitting up just about every single temple in southern half of taiwan. we also went to the local night market - okay, at the risk of sounding like a complete disgrace to the race, can i just say how freaking gross some of the food was? i'm not just talking about weird, unidentified animal organs - i'm talking about how some of the stuff is prepared, swimming in grease or surrounded by a swarm of bugs. FDA inspectors would have a freakin' heart attack.
i guess that's pretty much it. i have another eight hours on this flight (wahhhhhh!). i'll write more later. but before i go, i'm reposting these pictures to honor this momentous occasion in rosa's life. hahaha.

you know, one day i will figure out what happened to my pants in that second picture. hasta, kids. xoxo.

this is the world's worst blog. i'm sorry. my new year's resolution will be to lead a much more entertaining life and update more frequently. and lose weight and run a 10K and be insanely well dressed and achieve optimal work-life balance. don't laugh, IT CAN HAPPEN. once i win the lotto and quit my job at EY, that is. anyways, the main reason i've been neglecting my poor readers - all three of you - is due to an obscene amount of traveling. after rosa's wedding, i flew back to LA, then to DC, then down to FL, then back to DC, then TX. and i'm headed back to LA next week. and then phoenix. haha. i have officially had it with airports. i've gone through the body scanner so many times that i'm surprised i haven't grown a mutant third arm yet. one day i will subject myself to the supposedly invasive pat down, but only if there just so happens to be one TSA guy available and he just so happens to look keanu reeves' better looking, long lost twin. "sir, you'll probably want to check for the knife i hid in my bra...ha-ha-ha, just kidding." pause. "aww man, i was just playing around, don't arrest me!"
sooooooo, most of my flights were complicated by weather. delayed flights, cancelled flights, diverted flights (i can now say i've been to the tampa airport. and did you know that planes cannot land in winds exceeding 29 knots? i hope that's a jeopardy question one day.). i swear, we southern californians take a BOATLOAD of things for granted.

unfortunately, i wasn't headed to NYC or kentucky.

the primary cause of my airport hell. also, thanks to lovely DC weather, i am now the slightly-ashamed owner of hunter rainboots (or gardening galoshes, as lynn refers to them), black fuzzy earmuffs and shearling-lined boots with a wedge heel. all three items of clothing are dorky and overpriced but you know what? all vanity flies out the door in 20 degrees, 30+ mph winds weather.

on the plus side, free sights like these make airport delays totally worth it.
let's see, what else. it was shaping up to be a somewhat pathetic christmas this year (let's just say it was going to involve an insane amount of TV-watching and face-stuffing), but then jack flew in on friday as a surprise and scared the living crap out of me right in the middle of some very intense bathroom cleaning. i told him it was a good thing he didn't come while my other boyfriend was over (keanu had to get back to filming in canada). so, it ended up being a fabulous christmas, because there was still lots of TV-watching and face-stuffing, only i didn't have to do it alone. we went to the prime rib in georgetown for christmas dinner #2, and it was heavenly. i also got a gorgeous new black cashmere scarf to replace the cheapie one that blew away in the wind last week. i am not kidding, the wind was that intense. i hope the bum who is wearing it now appreciates it.
all right, time to sign off. i'll leave you with two last pictures from rosa:

see that small step right in front of me? that was what lead to my downfall. literally.

messing around with the photo booth.
